Neglected Elders

-
Not even a letter
Echo from the children
Grey with worry parents
Live without support or
Ease, abandoned by all
Comfort they had sacrificed
To provide and give
Everything their kids required
Desperately they now survive

Eagerly awaiting better times
Languishing sadly in despondent
Domains, weak and ailing
Envisioning the good days
Reasoning what went wrong
Sleeping in painful solitude

  1. It is so sad that children "conveniently" forget what their parents have done for them and abandon them to such solitude. They think that they will be taken good care of and all they have to do to complete their duties is to pay for the expenses. Little do they realize that all parents want in their old age is the company of their children and grand-children, to witness their children doing well in their lives. But, that doesn't happen always, does it? Some unfortunate parents have to live through this ordeal. At least, I hope, this serves as a message to all others to be grateful to their parents.

  2. Thankyou Vittal for your insight..so many old abandoned people exist today. Old-age homes are filled to capacity and cant accomodate all.
It is really a sad state of affairs..
